ROB NILSSON

A San Francisco based director, Rob Nilsson and co-director John Hanson won the Camera d’Or at Cannes for NORTHERN LIGHTS and Nilsson won the Grand Jury Prize at the Sundance Film Festival for HEAT AND SUNLIGHT. He is the first American film director to have won both awards.
Nilsson is a pioneer in the techniques of video to film transfer which led to today’s digital revolution. In 1985 SIGNAL 7 was the first small format video feature to be blown up to film and distributed around the world by Francis Ford Coppola.

Burning Man, voyage in utopia : documentary 90 minutes

In the desert of Nevada an ephemeral city emerges from nothing - Black Rock City!  In this city, a statue is burned at the culmination of the Burning Man event, giving the event its name. For several years, David Best -  a Californian sculptor – has built temples there with recycled material. A trip to burning man is a sociological and artistic adventure. Art is everywhere. Larry Harvey  also talks about the “Frontier experience”. The event replays the American myth in real life : getting away from the sins of the old world , leave for the conquest of a supposedly  virgin west and built a pure new community where everybody will be able to express their potential.

Eugene Tsui “The urgency of change” : documentary 90 minutes

For 3 years we have followed the architect Eugene Tsui through all of his projects, his life as an architect, and his personal life.  His many areas of interests, his multiple talents and the accuracy of his fight for an architecture that is adapted to the world which surrounds us, well deserved a film. We followed him to California, to China, to France, to Morocco, to Spain.
At the hour of an awakening on the state of our planet, the designs and ideas of Eugene Tsui are a new way to think about architecture. We are in the search of investors to complete our budget for post-production.

Meet Idrissa Diop and Carlos Santana

Idrissa Diop, a Senegalese percussionist and singer, defines his music as fusion. It is this fusion that we want to talk of. A worldly and noble-hearted man, he travels the world, widens the spirit and nourishes his creativity of musical meetings.  His encounter  with Carlos Santana symbolizes the meeting of two musics, two continents, two stories.  I  chose to follow Idrissa Diop, poet and musician, the man and his music, through  this musical journey which mixes the dream and the destiny of the men.  In an informal  way, on the road, from Gorée Island in Africa to  San Francisco, from Paris to  Montreux,  I wanted to tell his history... his Wolof  Story...

Steel and Dust : documentary 52 minutes
Meeting with sculptors Karen Cusolito and Dan Das Mann from San Francisco

Dan and Karen imagine and realize giant steel sculptures in the desert at Burning Man. After the festival, the works of art continue their lives in contact with the public on the sea front in San Francisco. We follow their new project, which is to be most ambitious. It consists of the manufacture  of  12 statues of 10 meters high encircling a metal tree. We are going to document this exiting adventure. Stay tuned.
On this site we will keep you informed about the development of this exceptional project.
